business was founded in 1898 by David Atlas, grandfather of the
present head of the firm, David S. Atlas. David S. Atlas has been
involved with the family business since December 1967 and has
been firm President since 1982 when Jerome Atlas, his father,
took a less active role. D. Atlas & Co., Inc buys and sells antique
cut diamonds, to the trade only, and does not interfere with the
independent operation of the appraisal business which is done
for the trade and for the public.
AGA is well known for publishing the first diamond cut grading
charts for fancy shaped diamonds back in the early 1990's and
